Oats Idli

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup of Suji
  • 1/2 cup of Curd/ Dahi
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt (as directed by your dietitian)
  • 1 tbsp of lime juice
  • Water (as much required)

  • To prepare Oats Suji Idli:

  • 1. Dry Roast and Powder Oats: Dry roast oats in a pan and then powder them in a grinder.

    2. Prepare Batter: In a bowl, pour water and curd. Add suji and powdered oats. Mix well to make a thick batter. Set aside for about 10 minutes, ensuring the batter is thick and not watery.

    3. Preheat Steamer: Heat a steamer with water.

    4. Fill Idli Plates: Fill the idli plates with the oats suji batter.

    5. Steam Idlis: When the water in the steamer begins to boil, place the idli stand in the cooker and steam for about 10-15 minutes.

    6. Check for Doneness: Insert a skewer in the idli; if it comes out clean or with slight crumbs, the idlis are cooked.

    7. Cool and Serve: Allow the idlis to cool down a bit, then remove them from the plate with the help of a spoon.

    8. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Oats Suji Idli with coconut or homemade sambar (without drumsticks). Enjoy your nutritious and delicious meal!
